Mehwish Hayat in the ‘Badass Bride’

Mehwish Hayat is one of the most glamorous actresses of this generation and has worked wonders for the Pakistani film industry in just a short time span. One look at the actress’you’ll be bewitched by her beauty, elegance and casual attitude.

Bhumika Arora

Bhumika Arora, a name you would have heard of if you are even remotely into fashion, style, modeling, etc. After the legacy of Anjali Mendes, Ujjwala Raut, and other Indian supermodels who took the Indian modeling scene to the next level, we have people like Bhumika Rao amongst others that are carrying the baton. At 26, she first walked the ramp at the Paris Fashion Week and went all out the next three years with big names just getting added to the list. From sharing cover pages on magazines like ‘Elle’ to an individual cover story on Vogue, and making it to the Forbes ‘30 Under 30 List’, Bhumika Arora is a fighter and gives us inspiration for all the right reasons.

Aishwarya Rai

Okay, if your first reaction to this is WHAT?!! – We need to talk. We know her as an actress and Miss Universe, but she was a model much before any of this, so how could I not start this article with Aishwarya? There’s nobody quite like this Mangalore beauty with such beautiful eyes, hair, and skin. But, we are grateful that she started off as a model – because how else would we have discovered this beauty?

Aspirants

Michael Kors. Ralph Lauren. Calvin Klein. Giorgio Armani. Phoebe Philo.
These are the zeitgeist sensors. They tap into what people want to, as Calvin Klein puts its, “be”. They design with a lifestyle in mind, not necessarily a realistic lifestyle, but the ones that most people want to live. They outfit humanity for its dearest dreams, whether we admit it or not.
Because they flatter universal human desire to be admired, they are brilliant at establishing international brands with longevity.

Apparel brand

One of the most familiar forms of fashion design involves apparel, which is a another word for clothing. There are two main categories. The first, and most prestigious, is haute couture, or expensive one-of-a-kind clothing made for specific wealthy individuals. The phrase 'haute couture' is French, and it specifically relates to the high fashion scene in Paris. Specifically, fashion designers working in haute couture have workshops in Paris. Each season, they show their work to the Paris press at two runway shows with models. These designers usually show fashions for daytime and evening wear. Haute couture is exclusive, expensive, high-end fashion, made by hand to exact measurements. Most people never own a piece of haute couture fashion!
The other kind of apparel design is pret-a-porter. It's also a French word that means 'ready to wear'. This type of fashion design results in the clothing most people wear. Pret-a-porter fashion is quality clothing, but it's designed for standard sizes and made in factories. It's off the rack and not made for individual clients. This is clothing you buy in stores like Macy's and the Gap. Designers and design houses that make pret-a-porter fashions usually have one annual show that predicts the next year's trends and styles. The designs that preview well will then be manufactured for the mass market.
